Mark J Carter — November Newsletter
I’ve got something brand new this month — a story that’s been sitting in my head for a while.
The Gatwick Freeport Heist
Standalone short set in the same world as The Acapulco Gold — darker, leaner, more grounded. No characters cross over. Think rain-slick car parks, cheap lager, and men out of their depth.
It follows Danny, an ordinary bloke with a mortgage, two kids, and a knack for bad decisions. A “quick job” lands him in a van with a psychopath wearing Brut 33 and a plan that’s going to end badly for pretty much everyone.

Where Do I Get My Inspiration?
Some of my favourite lines start as things I was never meant to hear. The other day a man said — with absolute fury — “How can you compare Monopoly with Guess Who?” I’ve thought about it ever since. Was it strategy, or hurt feelings over lost property? If you’ve got theories (or a scene idea), hit reply.
